(Communicated by the Deputy Foreign Minister's Bureau)
Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely on Wednesday (28 October 2015) delivered remarks to the
29th Women Leaders' Conference at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem. The conference is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through
MASHAV, Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation, in collaboration with the
Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center. Participants include senior women leaders from around the world, including vice presidents, ministers and deputy ministers.
Deputy FM Hotovely said: "Political leadership and economic empowerment are key factors for the advancement of gender equality. Israel has been a pioneer in terms of gender equality already since the tenure of
former Prime Minister Golda Meir, who was one of the first women in the world to serve as prime minister. I was very moved to see women leaders from around the world convening in Jerusalem to discuss ways for advancing the very important goals of gender equality and women's empowerment."
