    ​Following the attack in Woolwich on Wednesday, Israeli President, HE Shimon Peres, has offered his deepest sympathy to the Queen:

    “I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear of the terrible attack yesterday in London, it was an act of horrific brutality. In my name and on behalf of the people of Israel, I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to the family of the victim and to the people of Britain.

    Terrorism is a global threat and one the world must face together. I know that the people of Britain will stand strong in the face of this threat and the State of Israel stands side by side with them.”
     
    Speaking alongside William Hague in Israel this morning, at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral scientific cooperation, Israel’s Minister for Science, Technology and Space, Mr. Yaakov Peri MK expressed his sympathies, adding:
     
    “The fight against terror crosses nations and countries. Countering terrorism is a joint goal of Israel, the UK and other peaceful countries around the world”
    Israeli Ambassador to the Court of St James’s, HE Ambassador Daniel Taub stated:
    “I wish to express my condolences to the victim’s family and to the British people following yesterday’s shocking attack. Israel stands united with Britain, committed to do what we can together to defeat extremism and terror.”
