Relations between Israel and the UK have been close historically, and have deepened in recent years.

The British International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, has expressed how vital trade relations are during his trip to Israel. "The UK and Israeli economies are complementary in so many areas, not least science and technology. I look forward to working ever more closely with Israel’s Minister for Economy Eli Cohen to increase the ambition in our bilateral partnership," said Mr Fox in a recent tweet. The aim of his journey to Israel is to improve trade relations and to deliberate with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and some of the UK’s biggest Israeli investors.

Mr Fox's discussion with the Prime Minister was promising, due to him tweeting how prosperous Israeli and UK trade has been after their meeting. "Today I met with Prime Minister Netanyahu to grow the trade and investment relationship which saw a record $9bn of goods move between our countries last year." Since the 2016 referendum, there's been £400 million worth of Israeli investment in the UK; this has created over 1,300 jobs across the country. The UK is Israel's largest trade partner in Europe with trade in 2017 reaching a sizeable £7bn, which is an increase of 25% from 2016.
