Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, today (Thursday, 17 June 2021), spoke by telephone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who called to congratulate him on the formation of a government and on assuming office. The Prime Minister thanked her and referred to the new spirit in Israel and the opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Bennett expressed appreciation for Germany's commitment to the security of Israel and for supporting Israel's right to self-defense during Operation Guardian of the Walls. The Prime Minister invited Chancellor Merkel to visit Israel.
