The Argov Program in Leadership and Diplomacy trains about 20 students each year for future leadership positions in Israel and the Jewish world. Through an interdisciplinary and challenging curriculum, the program seeks to help students acquire the knowledge, tools, skills and critical thinking necessary to meet the many challenges that Israel faces in today's complex global environment.
The program is taught in English and is intended for outstanding students from schools and study programs at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, during the last year of their undergraduate studies. As part of the programme, the students meet with senior figures and experts in public policy and diplomacy from Israel and around the world undertaking educational tours throughout Israel. The highlight of the program is educational tours in Europe, the United States and China, including visits to government institutions, business arenas, international organisations and leading universities.
The program is based on the vision of Shlomo Argov, who was a diplomat, a senior official in Israel's Foreign Ministry and an Israeli ambassador. Shlomo Argov was wounded during an assassination attempt that took place in London on June 3, 1982, and put an end to his work. He died in Jerusalem in 2003.
