Alon Roth-Snir shared his views on the recent conflict and discussed the way forward towards the peace process and the current developments in the region. The deputy Ambassador described the life of millions of Israeli citizens living under the constant threat of indiscriminate missile launching from Hamas during the recent conflict.
Since coming to power in Gaza, Hamas is committing a double war-crime. Hamas deliberatly targets Israeli civilians. They are also using their own civilians as a shield. Israel went to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties and to minimize collateral damage.
Alon Roth-Snir reiterated the undefeatable will and hope of Israelis to reach a two-state solution through direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.

The panel discussion was followed by a series of questions from students on various issues such as the implications of the cease-fire and the significance of the recent vote at the UN General Assembly on Palestinian status.

The conference “Israel and Hamas, another crisis in a new Middle-East” was organised by the KCL Politics Society.
