    ​A delegation of Israeli mayors is currently visiting Woking Borough Council and the city of London in order to gain practical environmental knowledge from the two cities vast experience in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability.
    The delegation’s main mission was to gain increased awareness of methods of energy efficiency and sustainability from an municipal angle.
    Ambassador Taub welcomed the delegates at the Embassy, noting: “Here at the Embassy we are working to create relationships between the UK and Israel at every level, but what better contact could there be than between mayors committed to sharing environmental expertise to create a better future”
    The two day visit includes a one day tour of a selection of Woking’s sustainable and renewable energy projects producing environmentally friendly energy services and a demonstration project of a typical British home showing how to go into low energy modus.
    In London, the delegation was introduced to the environmental agenda in the planning of new neighbourhoods, and the environmental infrastructure of the Olympic Games and its consequent integration into city planning.
     
    The visit was the end of a longer trip undertaken by the Israeli mayors of several other European cities with the aim to enhance awareness of ways to improve energy efficiency and sustainability that can be implemented in their own municipalities back in Israel.
