Scholarships for international students (academic year 2023-2024)
International
students with an academic degree can use this service to apply for an 8 month
academic scholarship or a 3 week Hebrew/Arabic summer language course
scholarship, in Israel.
International nationals
who have acquired an academic degree, either BA or BSc and higher, can apply
for a scholarship from the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
You can apply for:
·
A
full academic year (8 months from October to June) for the following programs:
MA/PhD/Post Doctorate/Overseas and International program/Special program.
·
A
3 week Hebrew/Arabic language program scholarship over the summer.
The full (8 month) academic year
scholarship includes:
·
50%
of your tuition fees up to a maximum of $6,000.
·
A
monthly allowance for one academic year (8 months).
·
Basic health insurance.
The Summer Language Course Includes:

Full tuition

Dormitories
·
3
weeks’ allowance

*
• Accommodation, transportation and travel arrangements to
and from Israel are the applicant's responsibility.
• Scholarships will be granted only for studies in universities
and programs approved by the Israeli Council for Higher Education.
• Scholarships for Ulpan language studies will be granted in
the Ulpan chosen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• In order to start the application process, please contact the
Cultural section in your local Israeli embassy to verify the exact date
for submitting applications and to receive more detailed information
concerning the process of choosing candidates for scholarship from your
country.
Who can apply
·
You
must hold a BA or BSc degree (or higher) and a good record of academic
achievement.
·
You
must be under 35 years old at the beginning of the academic year.
·
You
must be a citizen of one of the following countries:
Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada (Quebec Province),
China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia,
Finland, France. Georgia, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, India,
Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of
Korea, Republic of Serbia, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain,
Switzerland, The Netherlands, Taiwan, Turkey and Ukraine.

You
cannot apply if you are an Israeli citizen.
·
You
can only receive a scholarship after being accepted to an academic institute that is recognized by the Israeli Higher Education
Council.
·
You
must meet the level of English language proficiency required by the academic
institute where you intend to study or conduct research.
·
If
you intend to study or conduct research in Hebrew, you must meet the level of
Hebrew language proficiency required by the academic institute where you intend
to study or conduct research.
Note
You must receive a type (A2) student visa which does
not permit to work in order to be eligible for the scholarship. You can
apply for the visa at your local Israeli Embassy or at the Ministry of Interior in Israel.
What you need
·
The
completed Israel government scholarships
application pack (including the application form
and the health form signed and stamped by a licensed medical
practitioner). You must submit the application form in triplicate (the
originals and 2 photocopies).
·
A
detailed letter describing your field of study in Israel, specifying the
academic institute you are applying for.
·
If
you are applying for the 8 month study scholarship for research or post
doctorate you should submit a letter of acceptance from an Israeli
Supervisor , you must submit copies of correspondence exchanged with
Israeli academic institutes. If you are applying for a scholarship for research
or a post doctorate you can submit copies of letters correspondence with the relevant
Israeli supervisor.

Official
original academic records, or translated, notarized copies of all relevant
studies and test scores, academic diplomas and degree certificates, and
transcripts of your grade records.
·
At
least 2 letters of recommendation from lecturers or professors whose courses
you participated in.
·
Any
relevant documents regarding English language proficiency, such as TOEFL, GRE,
IELTS and GMAT test results.
·
If
you intend to study or conduct research in Hebrew, any relevant documents
regarding Hebrew language proficiency, such as Ulpan test results.
·
Your curriculum vitae (resume).
·
3 portrait photographs.
·
You
must submit original documents or notarized copies. Documents that are not in
English or Hebrew must be submitted with a notarized translation.
Deadlines
·
All of the
above should be printed in English and submitted in three (3) copies to the Israeli
embassy in the applicant's country
·

the Netherlands, please follow instructions
on website).
·
The final
date for the submission of application forms is no later than 10 January 2023.
·
Final
decision regarding the granting of a scholarship will be made around July of
each year.
·
The MFA
will notify the candidate of his/her acceptance to the scholarship program.
How to apply
1. Contact your local Israeli embassy or consulate, in your country of origin, to receive the application submission dates
and detailed information on the applicant selection process from your country.
2.
Print
and fill in the Israel government scholarships
application pack. Your health form must be signed and
stamped by a licensed medical practitioner.
3.
Submit
3 copies of the application form and health form (the originals and 2 copies).
You can fill in the forms using your computer or by hand printing in clear
capitals. Attach all the relevant required documents to your application pack
and submit them to the Israeli embassy in your country of
origin, no later than December
31st of the academic year prior to the academic year you are applying
for.
