ISRAEL-GHANA MEET TO DISCUSS ECONOMIC TIES

    ​On Monday, 3 February 2020, Mr. Shay Rinsky, the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry met with H. E. Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, Ghana’s Vice President to discuss possible ways of enhancing the trade and economic ties between Israel and​ Ghana. 

    It was a very successful meeting as the two sides discussed innovation, agriculture and cyber security as the top priority areas for cooperation between Israel and Ghana. 

    Mr. Shay Rinsky led a delegation to Ghana to examine the prospects increasing the trade and economic prospects between Israel and Ghana. His visit to Ghana comes at the back of the establishment of our Trade and Economic Mission in Ghana since 2018. Amongst the delegation was Mr. Nissim Ben Eli, Director of ASHRAH - Israel's National Foreign Trade Risk Insurance Cooperation.

    The opening of our Trade and Economic Mission in 2018 has tremendously increased the Trade and economic activities between our two states. There has been several government-to-government and business to business visits to Israel and Ghana. 

    For instance, at the recent Cybertech Conference in Israel, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications and her Israeli counterpart signed a declaration of intention to collaborate on communication, post and technological cooperation. At the same time, Hon. Owusu-Ekuful and Mr. Yigal Unna, the Director General of the Cyber Security Directorate in Israel also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in the cyber security sector. 

    Mr Rinsky and his team also visited some Israeli projects in Ghana and met with some private sector industry players. They also met with the Israeli Businesses community in Ghana.
