From 20th to 21 October, our Economic and Trade Mission collaborated with CyberX Africa to organize the 2022 CyberX Africa Conference and Exhibition.

This is part of initiatives to promote partnerships and strengthen relations between Israel and Ghana in the cybersecurity sector.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, H. E. Shlomit Sufa expressed excitement about the embassy’s decision to collaborate with the organizers of the event.

She indicated, “I am also excited about the theme - Digital Leadership for a Digital Africa. This is because the rise of digital technologies, as represented by artificial intelligence, Blockchain technology, cloud computing, big data, edge computing and 5G, is creating a new round of economic and industrial transformation. Digital leadership is therefore an important element for Ghana and Africa.”

Ambassador Sufa further highlighted some of the key projects the embassy is working on to strengthen its relations with Ghana in the area of cybersecurity.

She noted that “our Economic and Trade Mission since 2018 has worked to promote business-to-business cybersecurity activities, conferences and workshops. Between 2021 and 2022, we’ve had two delegations from Ghana to Israel for the Cyberweek 2021 and Cybertech Global TLV 2022 conferences. I must emphasis that the Cybertech Global TLV 2022 delegation in March this year happened to be one of our largest delegations yet to Israel.  Just this September, we collaborated with CoreNet to organize the Cyber for Executives’ workshop with training facilitators coming from TripleP from Israel. This workshop was aimed at enabling organizational executives to build robust institutions that are prepared to mitigate cyber risks.”

As part of the CyberX Africa Conference and Exhibition, two Israeli experts from the Israeli National Cyber Directorate lead a simulation exercise with some heads so Security agencies in Ghana. The simulation exercise was targeted at the Maritime and Aviation sectors, mainly to raise awareness about emerging cybersecurity issues in the sectors. Additionally, the event also hosted Israeli companies such as Thinkcyber, Radware, TripleP – Cyber Security LTD among others.
