On Wednesday, 23 February, the Embassy together with Innohub hosted a demo day session for the first cohort of the Israel-Ghana AgriTech Accelerator Program after a successful 6 weeks of training, mentoring and workshops.

In collaboration with Innohub and the Pears Program for Global Innovation, the Embassy launched the Israel-Ghana AgriTech Accelerator Program in July 2021 to support agricultural technology startups in Ghana.

The program aims at enhancing the capacity of local agritech businesses to build on the technology and innovation components of their businesses.

Participating agritech startups included Sesi Technologies, aiScarecrow Technologies, Sustainable Energy Technologies Limited and Sayetech.

Ms. Ayelet Levin-Karp read a statement on behalf of H. E. Shlomit Sufa. In her statement, she indicated that “the agriculture sector has been one of the key sectors that we operate – mainly highlighting and connecting the Ghanaian Agricultural sector to that of Israel. We have exhibited this through many means including our annual Agro-Studies project with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, various technical and expert trainings by our International Agency for Development (MASHAV), the Israeli Green Innovation Competition and many business-to-business activities by our Trade and Economic Mission.

“The Israel-Ghana AgriTech Accelerator Program is an additional initiative that we have implemented to scale up, particularly startup agritech businesses in Ghana. We believe that this initiative will support and grow Ghanaian tech-enabled agritech startups to further develop and refine their product technologies by connecting them to relevant tech experts from Israel for advisory support. We are also optimistic that, through this initiative, we can strengthen the business links between relevant Israeli tech companies to the Ghanaian startup ecosystem,” she add.

    End.
