On December 3, the State of Israel donated to the government of Sierra Leone medical supplies worth $92,000.00 to support victims affected by the November gas explosion in Freetown.
H. E. Shlomit Sufa, Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone made the presentation to the Sierra Leonean High Commissioner to Ghana, H. E. Francess Virginia Anderson in Accra.
The medical items include examination gloves, bandages, cartoons of Ibuprofen tablets, candellers, cotton wool, tramadol injection, mattresses, among others.
Speaking at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ambassador Sufa said the donation is a show of the strong diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and Israel.
“Helping one another in times of tragedy or disaster is a very kind gesture. Such a show of support would continue between both Israel and Sierra Leone,” she added.
Ambassador Sufa hopes to use her office to deepen the ties that already existed between Israel and Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leonean High Commissioner to Ghana, H. E. Francess Virginia Anderson in her remarks appreciated the gesture from her colleague and the Israeli government and commended them for fulfilling their promise of medical support.
She said she is hopeful of a lasting positive relationship that will continually be in the interest of both countries.
Israel and Sierra Leone continue to enjoy great bilateral ties and both countries through their respective Heads of Missions in Accra have committed to further strengthening of ties.
