From Sunday 28 November to Sunday, 5 December, the Embassy of Israel in Accra marked the 2021 Hanukkah celebrations with a series of activities.

On Sunday, 28 November, H. E. Shlomit Sufa joined the clergy and congregation of the Ebenezer Assemblies of God Church, Kotobabi, Accra to light the first candle of Hanukkah.

In her remarks, Ambassador Sufa encouraged members of the congregation to believe in the existence of little miracles despite all the challenges they face as God did for the Jews some 2000 plus years ago.

On Tuesday, 1 December, H. E. Shlomit Sufa was joined by some members of the Israeli community in Ghana to light the third candle of Hanukkah. Ambassador Sufa used the occasion to wish all the members of the Israeli Community in Ghana happiness in this season and beyond.

On the fifth day of Hanukkah, H. E. Shlomit Sufa and some Embassy Staff joined the management and beneficiaries of Street Girls Aid to light the fifth candle of Hanukkah.
Ambassador Sufa expressed her delight to spend the day with the girls and shared the story of Hanukkah with them.

She particularly encouraged the girls not to give up and believe in little miracles for all their dreams. H. E. Shlomit Sufa also used the occasion to donate some items to support the work of Street Girls Aid.

Our 2021 Hanukkah celebration came to a close with H. E. Shlomit Sufa hosting some friends of the Embassy to light the eighth candle of Hanukkah. It was also the official welcoming reception for H. E. Shlomit Sufa since she officially assumed her role as the new Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In her remarks, Ambassador Sufa expressed her delight to begin her tour of duty in Ghana and looks forward to working to deepen the relations between Israel and Ghana.
