EMBASSY OF ISRAEL COMMISSIONS ICT CLASSROOMS

    On Tuesday 12 April, the Embassy of Israel commissioned the first phase of the Education for Digital Innovation project at the Amasaman Senior High Technical School. 

    The Education for Digital Innovation consist of supporting and providing a fully furnished ICT Classrooms and training workshops for selected Senior High Schools across Ghana.

    The project aims at contributing to the Ministry of Education’s ICT in Education Policy. In the first phase, the beneficiary schools include Walewale Senior High Technical School, Amasaman Senior High Technical School and the Tema Manhean Senior High Technical School. 

    Each classroom is named after the Seven Species of the Land of Israel. They are: Olive Class in Amasaman Senior High Technical School, Barley Class in Walewale Senior High Technical School and Wheat Class in Tema Manhean Senior High Technical School. Our vision and goal is to provide four more classes, which will be branded after the four remaining Species: Fig, Grape, Date and Pomegranate. 

    H. E. Shlomit Sufa was joined by the Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour and other dignitaries from the Ghana Education Service to commission the refurbished ICT Classroom at the Amasaman SHTS.

    In her remarks, Ambassador Sufa indicated expressed that “the government of the State of Israel is very interested in collaborating with the government of Ghana in the education sector. Our desired goal has been to share relevant knowledge and technical know-how that will contribute to the development of the education sector in Ghana be it training of professionals (teachers) or facilitating for infrastructural projects.”

    She further explained that “our Education for Digital Innovation was initiated out of our desire to align with the government of Ghana’s drive to project digitalization and innovation not only in the economy but also in the education sector.  This project consists of identifying various Senior High Schools without ICT classrooms to aid in their teaching and learning. Through this, we seek to provide and install adequate information technology equipment such as laptops, printers, smart television screens and Wifi routers in ICT Classrooms of Senior High Schools in Ghana.”  

    Through the Education for digital innovation project, the embassy aims to enhancing ICT education among students by equipping their schools with updated information technology tools for their practical use.
