On Thursday, 27 September 2018, H. E. Shani Cooper and the Staff of the Embassy of Israel joined the Helpapp Volunteering group from Israel to support and renovate some portions of the Chicago Basic School in Denu, Volta Region.
As part of activities, H. E. Shani Cooper and the Staff of the Embassy painted the school wall, interacted with the school children and shared T Shirts for the children.
On behalf of MASHAV (Israel’s Agency for International Development and Cooperation), the Embassy also donated five wheel chairs to support five physically challenged children in the school.
Officials of the Chicago Basic School expressed their gratitude to the Embassy and Helpapp for collaborating with the school to improve on the social amenities of the school.
From Thursday, 20 September to Thursday, 4 October 2018, a team of about 45 Israelis from Helpapp arrived in Ghana to renovate two schools (A.M.E. Zion School, Hedranawo and Chicago Basic School) and two orphanages (Providence Orphanage & Fafali Orphanage) in Denu in the Volta Region.
Helpapp is an Israeli app that provides a platform for people to sign on and provide community volunteering services and support in deprived communities.   The app connects volunteers from all walks of life, with different experiences. As part of their goals to create unity and connection within Israeli society, Helpapp sends humanitarian missions to orphanages in Third World countries. In the past two years, HelpApp has sent 8 humanitarian delegations to Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and India, consisting of careerists, parents, discharged soldiers and students. The volunteers give up their time and money to give back to society.
