    ​On Wednesday, 23 May 2018, at the residence of the ambassador, a farewell reception was held for Dr. Yael Mehl, the Public Diplomacy Coordinator of the Embassy.

    Dr. Yael Mehl came to Ghana in July 2015 and has been at the forefront of enhancing Israel-Ghana relations since March 2016. Serving as the Public Diplomacy Coordinator, Dr. Yael Mehl led the Embassy in organizing Jewish-Israeli cultural activities such as the Israeli Cultural Week in 2017, National Day, Jerusalem Day, Hanukkah, and other seminars that brought the cultures of Israel and Ghana to each other. She also participated in several speaking engagements on occasions such as the International Women’s Day. In her three years stay in Ghana, Dr. Yael Mehl crossed the hearts and lives of all who came into contact with her. 

    In her farewell remarks, Dr. Yael Mehl expressed her warmest appreciation to the Ghanaian people, the diplomatic community, the Jewish-Israeli community, staff of the Embassy and friends who made her stay and work in Ghana very pleasant and successful. Dr. Yael Mehl also expressed her appreciation of the Ghanaian rich culture especially in the area of folklore and added that, she will take in her pocket to Israel, “Ananse” the Ghanaian proverbial folklore character of the spider. In her three years stay in Ghana, Dr. Yael Mehl crossed the hearts and lives of all who came into contact with her. 

    The farewell reception was also used to raise funds to support the Save a Child’s Heart project. A project that mobilizes funds to take children with medical heart conditions to Israel for medical operation. In support of this notable gesture, legendary self-taught artiste, Yaw Safori exhibited some of his paintings in support of the fund raising.  Green Earth Organics, producers of natural beauty products also exhibited items to be sold in support of the Save a Child’s Heart Project. 

    The reception was attended by government officials, members of the diplomatic community, the Jewish-Israeli community, staff of the embassy, and friends.
