Shlomit Sufa is the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra-Leone, since 27th August 2021.
Prior to her appointment, she was a participant in the National Security Program at the Israeli National Defense Collage (INDC). From September 2019 to August 2020, she served as Minister-Councilor, South East Asia Department in the Asia and Pacific Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel.
From 2014-2019, Shlomit Sufa was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Canada, responsible for Government and Parliament Relations, Jewish Community and Holocaust Remembrance.
Ms. Sufa began her career as a lawyer in 1998 at the Legal Department of the Municipality of Ramla and moved on to participate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cadet Program to begin her Diplomatic career.
Since September 2001, Shlomit Sufa has served in different capacities at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs including Second Secretary, Bureau for Interreligious Affairs (2001-2002); Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Israel to Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi (2002-2005); and Deputy Director, East Africa Department, Africa Affairs Division (2005-2008). In 2008, she was appointed as the Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Israel to Switzerland and Lichtenstein. From there, she moved on to serve as the Deputy Director, EU Department, at the Europe Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2012 and 2014.
Shlomit Sufa is also a member of the Women Diplomatic Network Steering Committee (an Israeli network of female diplomats from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and female diplomats posted in Israel) and Forum Dvorah (a non-partisan, nonprofit NGO that looks at equal representation of women in key decision-making position in the fields of national security and foreign policy).
Ms. Sufa holds a LL.B in Law from the Harry Radzyner Law School, IDC Herzliya and M.A in Political Science from the University of Hiafa.
Leveraging on Israel’s renowned capabilities in agriculture, water technologies, hi-tech and medical care, H. E. Shlomit Sufa hopes to promote projects in Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone that are in line with the UN’s sustainable development goals and address these three countries needs in food security, water management and digitalization.
