    ​Watch self-advocates with Down syndrome from Australia, Georgia, Israel, Vietnam, Bangladesh​ and Peru reach out to members of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, government officials, and civil society representatives.

    The focus of the event was ensuring all persons with Down syndrome can #CONNECT and participate on an equal basis with others.

    They discuss the importance of connecting, the barriers they have found and the solutions they have developed.

    Following remarks from representatives of Permanent Missions to the United Nations in Geneva, the guest speaker Sir Robert Martin, Member of the CRPD, together with self-advocates from around the world shared their views, knowledge and personal experiences of #CONNECT (connecting) during COVID -19.

    Yated - the Down Syndrome Society of Israel - participated in the event (video at 32:30).​

    The event was organized by Down Syndrome International on the sidelines of the session of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with the support of the Permanent Missions of Brazil, Israel and the United Kingdom to the United Nations in Geneva​.
