On Wednesday, May 17th 2023, officials from different government institutions, members of the diplomatic corps and members of the private sector joined the Embassy of Israel in Rwanda in a glamorous event to mark the 75th Independence Day of the State of Israel.

In his speech, Ambassador Dr Ron Adam extended his appreciation to the attendants for sparing their time to attend the celebration event, which he said is a testament of the good bilateral relations between Israel and Rwanda.

“We seek to discover Rwanda by meeting people, and engaging grass roots. We partner with the youth in different projects because we believe in their ability to take this country to a better future by emulating their visionary leader- HE Paul Kagame” he said.

Meanwhile, Clementine Mukeka, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who represented the Government of Rwanda in the event hailed the role of the Embassy in strengthening the already existing good relations between the two sister countries with common values.

“Rwanda and Israel have a lot in common including the resilience to overcome challenges throughout our history, and this is not just the tale of our tragic past, but also a remarkable journey to recover for the tragedies,” she said.

Israel’s Independence Day is celebrated annually on the Anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, according to the Hebrew calendar, on the 5th day of the month of Iyar.

The day preceding this celebration is devoted to the memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice the country's Independence and its continued existence.

This proximity is intended to remind people of the heavy price paid for Independence and offers an opportunity to pay tribute to the gallant men and women who risked it all for the wellbeing of their Homeland.
