Prof. Elhanan Bar-On, Head of Pediatric Orthopedics, Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel was a part of the most advanced Israeli Field Hospital that was  flown to Nepal to provide medical assistance to the Gorkha Earthquake victims. While working together with Nepali medical professionals in the field hospital, he learnt that there is no registered Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in Nepal and realized the need of the same. Therefore, he brought the idea of training Nepali orthopedic in Israel on Pediatric Orthopedics. The idea was not forgotten. With the support of the Embassy of Israel, Dr. Ritesh Sinha left for Israel this week for one year training under full scholarship at Schneider Children's Medical Center.

Similarly, Dr. Harel Arzi, Director of Pediatric Spine Deformity Service from Shaare Zedek Medical Center, who was also the part of the Israeli Field hospital, invited an Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Bishnu Babu Thapa who is going to participate in 3 weeks clinical observational visit on cutting edge technologies including robotic assisted surgeries in Israel. We wish to thank Mazor Robotics, a leading innovator in spine surgery for their kind support.

The Embassy is also very glad to support these collaborations and to be a part of training one of the first pediatric orthopedic surgeons in Nepal.
