Israeli Field Hospital for Earthquake Victims

    Prime Minister Sushil Koirala visited the Israeli Field Hospital at Chhauni, near army hospital on 29 April 2015. The Hospital became fully operational from that day and was erected by the State of Israel through the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), in order to allow free treatment for the people affected by "Earthquake Gorkha".
    The hospital was flown alongside medical and logistic personnel from Israel and has the ability to perform serious and highly sophisticated surgeries and has facility for emergency services, pediatric department, obstetric department, orthopedic department, full-fledged diagnostic imaging system and laboratory.
    Speaking during his visit, Prime Minister Koirala referred to the friendship between the Israeli and Nepali peoples and stressed that 'a friend in need is a friend indeed and Israel was there for us in our time of need'.  The PM added that, 'I am sure that the wounded people will get the best treatment possible from this hospital' and expressed his willingness to visit it again.
    Ambassador Mayer said, "I would like to send my deepest sympathy to those who have been affected by this tragedy.  The people of Israel are with you and this hospital is a symbol of Israel's commitment to Nepal".
    The hospital is operated by 267 trained personnel including 40 specialists, 120 medical staff members and a Nepali doctor.
    This field hospital is providing a free treatment to earthquake victims and others in need. We would like to share that the Israeli Field Hospital is not only for the earthquake victims but also other facilities like pediatrics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, cataract and general medicinal services are provided.
