His Excellency Ambassador Gil Haskel, Head of MASHAV – Israel's Agency for Development and Cooperation participated in the "International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction", that was held on 25 June 2015 in Kathmandu. Addressing the conference, Ambassador Haskel said, "We intend to find the construction of regional shelter which will supply housing, agricultural training, medical trauma treatment access to 1,000 of Nepalese." He pledged the commitment that Israel will do its best to contribute to Nepal's reconstruction efforts following the Gorkha Earthquake that hit the country on 25 April 2015.
Ambassador Gil Haskel, accompanied by Israel’s Ambassador to Nepal Yaron Mayer and DCM Yehonathan Lebel, visited Bhaktapur and Khokana, where he was able to witness the terrible damage inflicted by the Gorkha earthquake.
Ambasasdor Gil Haskel met with senior officials from Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel hospital, where he promoted ideas for future cooperation and had the pleasure of meeting many members of Shalom Club – the MASHAV alumni association.
During his visit, Amabssador Gil Haskel also visited projects by different Israeli NGOs in the fields of reconstruction and psychological trauma treatment.
