In the framework of celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Israel, the Embassy of Israel in Nepal, in collaboration with Bajra Art Mandal conducted an art workshop at Jagat Sundar Bwonekuthi, a Government School in Dallu, today.
More than one hundred primary and secondary level students showed their enthusiasm and talent during the workshop with the help of art teachers.
A big event was organized in Israel with the initiation of renowned Israeli artist Mr. Ted Barr together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel, gathering more than 200 Israeli artists, to collect paints and painting materials for the benefit of the Nepali children following the devastating 25 April 2015 earthquake in Nepal. The collected art materials were distributed through the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu and Bajra Art Mandal.
Mr. Barr visited Nepal two years back at the invitation of Patan Museum and the Embassy of Israel. During his stay in Nepal, Mr. Barr was extensively involved in art workshops for artists and local students.
H.E. Mr. Yaron Mayer, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, enjoyed the workshop with the children. Wishing the best for the participating students and the Nepali organizers H.E. Mr. Mayer said, “Kathmandu Colors symbolizes the collaboration between the two peoples of our countries and the love they have for each other. These colors are not mere colors but a hope towards light and add color in their lives”.
The workshop was made lively with a musical piece performed by Israeli Saxophonist Mr. Elad Gellert, who is on a visit to Nepal to participate in Jazzmandu festival. The musician also visited Child Protection Home, the organization providing safe and caring environment for rescued dependent children of imprisoned parents and entertained the children bringing smiles on their innocent faces. He along with his Katamon Cherry band continued visit to another Israeli INGO – Tevel b'Tzedek, the organization working mainly on post-earthquake community development.
