Holocaust Remembrance Day

    The United Nations together with the Embassy of the State of Israel, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, marked the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
     
    With an aim of educating about the human-made brutality and the message that such cruelty should never be repeated, the following Holocaust-themed films were screened on 24 January 2018 at Nepal Toursim Board, Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu:
    11:00 hrs         : Children of the Holocaust (52 mins, in English)
    13:00 hrs         : Hitler's Children (80 mins, subtitle in English)
    15:00 hrs         : The Ninth Day (97 mins, subtitle in English)
     
    Besides,there was an Exhibition on Holocaust namely "The Butterfly Project: Remembering the Children of the Holocaust" and "To Bear Witness: Holocaust photo Exhibition" at Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal, Kathmandu from 24-26 January 2018.
     
     
    Note:
    The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews (1.5 million of these were children) by the Nazi regime and its collaborators between 1930s and 40s in Europe but this persecution was not only limited to Jews, gypsies and gays were similarly targeted.
