BYD's first order of a pure electric bus in Israel has been finalize recently.
A fleet of 17 12-metre pure electric buses has officially landed in Israel's third-largest city and the northern port city-Haifa. Egged, Israel’s largest bus company with nearly 3,000 buses will operate these buses.
As early as 2013, BYD's all-electric bus was running in Tel Aviv, Israel. Based on the good results of the trial operation, BYD finally won the order. The buses will go into service this month and each will have a range of 200 kilometers per day.
"This is the beginning of an electrification of Haifa," said Ze 'ev Elkin, Israel's environment minister. We plan to spend a total of 400 million shekels (about 743 million yuan) on reducing air pollution from public transport.
Yisrael Katz, the Israeli transport minister, also said: "this batch of purely electric buses is just the beginning. We plan to introduce green transport to Haifa and its surrounding areas."
