The textile surface – whether it is a weave, knit, or non-woven has always served as the basic raw material in the creation for most of the objects in our world - particularly for garments and fashion, product design and architecture.
The Textile Design Department provides the knowledge and tools for professional creation: It touches on the essence of understanding textiles (theory), as well as the production technology itself (practicum).
The unique program of studies at the Department enables learning and experience in a variety of creative fields and returns to the beauty of ancient handicrafts, as well as their applications in technology and contemporary design.
The Textile Design Department deepens the ability/aptitude for design in general and surface design consequently, in routed in varies applications such as BODY, LIFE STYLE, CRAFT & INNOVATIVE MATERIALS.
Body rout explores the relations of body to textile structure and pattern; it comprises of practical courses in body-oriented textile design, fashion illustration, sewing and pattern-cutting and thematic workshop on fashion.
Life style rout addresses the relations of interior spaces to textiles; it develops through courses of textile design for interior, basics of interior and product design and technical drawing.
Craft rout explores the special qualities of the hand-made and the one-off creations, as well as conceptual contexts of textiles within fine art; it comprises of studio courses in designing with soft materials, hand knitting, embroidery.
Innovative materials rout explores the potential of textile structure and introduces the students to the latest developments in the fields of textile technology and material science; it develops through theoretical lectures on a variety of related subjects and practical course exploring the diversity of textile structures.
