About the Pavilion

  •   ISRAEL – SEA OF INSPIRATION
  •
Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth’
     Genesis 1:26

From time immemorial Jewish people respected the value of harmony between Men and Nature motivated by the biblical commitment to take care of all living creatures.
  •

Modern Israel is bounded to the west by the Mediterranean Sea, and to the south, by the Red Sea. On the East lies Israel's longest and most famous river - the 320-kilometer long River Jordan. The river flows south through the freshwater Sea of Galilee eventually emptying into the Dead Sea.

While faced with 4 different seas, Israel is a small country which suffers from scarcity of drinking water. Consequently the existential cause compelled Israeli scientists to reach many break through discoveries in various aspects of life: Agriculture, Medicine and Energy. Numerous creative innovations have been developed at diverse Israel research and technology institutes – many inspired by the Sea and the living creatures in it.

The Israeli Pavilion resembles a symbiotic combination of pure nature and the world of progress, coming together without interruption and in mutual inspiration. This is a form that combines these two worlds, ostensibly different in purpose and essence, but more effective thanks to the constructive combination between them. The visit to our pavilion gives you an exciting glimpse into the world of pure nature, and man's interactions

The Living Ocean: The Israeli Pavilion offers the visitors an emotional artistic experience. Entering the pavilion, walking along the pathway, you are gradually going into a fantasy trip – slowly "diving" into an underwater experience, observing an exciting beauty of Micro-creatures moving in a wonderful and unfamiliar marine world. The combination of man and marine environment is not natural; therefore, visitors are gradually exposed to all layers of marine world until they find themselves in a new environment. The movements of physical elements, projections in all dimensions and gaming with the physical or non-physical break down the world of spatial perception and create the feeling of a larger space. Travelling through the deep beauty of the sea the visitor opens his imagination, getting ready for the world of discoveries realizing the human responsibly of saving our important natural resource.

The Coast - Man and Nature: Emerging from the deep onto the land the visitors will encounter the most exquisite Israeli discoveries and innovations from this interaction between men and the living seas. You can touch and open new windows of knowledge about dozens of items. The virtual exhibits propose Israel's ecological solutions for humankind while keeping the balance between man and nature.
Caring for Future Generations we have the privilege to enjoy our world today, but we have an obligation to keep it for future generations.
