2021, Ben BOURGEL has been appointed Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of
Senegal, and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Cape Verde, the
Republic of Gambia, the Republic of Guinea, and the Republic of Guinea Bissau.
A
graduate in international and European law and a staff officer in the Israeli
army, Ben BOURGEL enrolled in the Diplomatic School of the Israeli Ministry of
Foreign Affairs in 2008.
Upon
graduation, he joined the office of the Director-General of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and served as Special Envoy for the Gulf States until 2011.
From
2011 to 2014, he served as Deputy Director of the Liaison Department at the
Permanent Mission of Israel to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium. As part
of his work, he develops economic and political ties between the European Union
and Israel.
From
2014 to 2016, he worked for the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in the International Law Department as a specialist in European and
strategic affairs and counterterrorism.
For
the period 2016-2018, Ambassador Bourgel served as Chief of Staff to the
Political Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, responsible for policy
integration, in addition to coordinating the activities of the Department's
various geographic divisions.
From
2018 to 2021, he served as Minister-Counselor, Political Coordinator of the
Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations in New York, where he was
responsible for strategic affairs, the Middle East, and the Security Council. In
addition, he was also in charge of the Disarmament and Special Political
Affairs Committees.
Mr.
Bourgel is a lawyer by training. He holds a DEA in European and Community law
from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (2000-2001) and a Master's
degree in international and European law from the University of Paris 10
Nanterre. (1999-2000)

Bourgel is married and has two children.
