His Excellency Ambassador of Israel to Romania Mr. Dan Ben-Eliezer had a meeting on 20 June 2013 with the Secretary of the Commission for Romanian communities abroad, Deputy PSD of Ilfov Mr. Ninel Peia.
The dialogue focused on several topics of mutual interest, such as bilateral relations and the specific activity of the diaspora Commission.
Several actions have been identified for the local and regional associations of Romanian communities in Israel. Also, His Excellency Ambassador Dan Ben-Eliezer said that Israel can share its experience on how the interest in culture and traditions of young people in communities outside their home country can be preserved, so that their identity would be maintained.
Also side issues were discussed, but no less important, such as:
- the creation of employment opportunities in Israel to facilitate access to specialized personnel from Romania
- Romania's promotion as an area of prime interest for tourists from Israel.
At the end of the discussions, it was determined that for a better understanding and for creating an appropriate and useful framework for the Romanian community in Israel, it is necessary to organize a parliamentary delegation to Israel, with the details of this visit being determined at a later date.
