    The fourth annual Heads of Missions Conference will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 30 December 2012 to 3 January 2013December 2012 to 3 January 2013.

    This year’s conference will be devoted to the formulation of political assessment, based in part on reports and assessments of the ambassadors, and to outlining concentration of effort and the MFA work plan for 2013.
     
    During the conference, the heads of missions will meet with the President of Israel, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Foreign Minister, heads of the defense establishment, and public and business figures including the Governor of the Bank of Israel, Prof. Dan Shechtman and heads of the technological and high tech industries in Israel.
     
    Central political issues on the agenda, including Iran, the political process, changes in the Arab world, the arena of international organizations, the State of Israel’s public diplomacy and MFA objectives for the forthcoming year will also be discussed. These objectives include promotion of the political agenda, economic initiatives and international cooperation on the topics of development diplomacy and economic diplomacy.
     
    Within the context of a tour entitled “At the missile front and the technological forefront,” the heads of missions and MFA management will visit the city of Ashkelon. During the tour, the participants will be acquainted with the difficulties of coping with the city’s complex security situation. They will also visit high-tech production sites in the region, including the Ashkelon desalination plant and the Elta plant in Ashdod.
