Here are some common questions you might have an answer for:
Q: I completed my military service in Israel, Will I be exempted from military service in Azerbaijan?
A: The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advise any Israeli citizen who holds Azeri citizenship to check, prior to his entry to Azerbaijan, whether he may be required by the Azeri competent authorities to be conscripted into the Azerbaijani army.
The Israeli ministry of Foreign Affairs whishes to state that there is no agreement on avoidance of double military service and hence an Israeli citizen who completed his military service in Israel will not necessarily be exempted from military service in Azerbaijan.
An Israeli citizen who holds an Azeri citizen that will opt to disregard this advise may be required, after entering to Azerbaijan, to be drafted into the Azerbaijani army and will not be allowed to leave Azerbaijan until he is exempted from military service by the Azerbaijani competent authorities.
It is worth noting that according to the Azeri law, any relinquishment of Azerbaijani citizenship comes into force only after the request is approved by the Azerbaijani competent authorities.
Q: I am a Azerbaijan citizen traveling to Israel through an Arab country - will I be denied entry to Israel?
A: Visiting other countries is not grounds for restricting entry to Israel. In fact, the border crossings between Jordan-Israel and Egypt-Israel are open.
