1) What is the origin of Random
Dogs—both generally, as a group, and, more specifically, the name?
Random Dogs was formed in 2011, when
Ben Rayzman (singer-songwriter) and Da’el Campbell (bass guitar player), close friends since
school, joined together to start their life project - form a band and release
their original music. Along the way, Oren Ronen (electric
guitar player), Gil Meir (electric guitar player) and Jonathan Alter (drummer)
joined, and together, after endless hours of rehearsing, writing, recording and
mixing - the band released its debut EP, entitled Out of the Race, on May
2014. Our EP is available for a free
download from our Bandcamp page - http://dogsrandom.bandcamp.com
Random Dogs’ five members are based
in Tel Aviv, Israel. The band’s name was picked after a friend from NYC
mentioned the enormous numbers of random dogs wandering around in Tel
Aviv. The name was catchy and we felt it represents us well.
2) Do you see a difference between
Israeli and American audiences?
We can’t tell yet, as the upcoming
visit in Atlanta, GA, is our first time as a band outside of Israel. Back here
in Tel Aviv we get a lot of great feedbacks and attention, and we’re looking
forward to exposing our music to American audience, which we’re sure will be as
warm as here in Israel. Our music is written in English, as we see it reaching
out to international crowds, so we’re really excited about this opportunity.
3) What message do you hope to
convey through your music?
We come from such a complicated
area, and our music carries the message of peace and harmony between people, no
matter what their race, sex, looks or religion. We believe that arts and music in particular are an amazing way to connect people to each other - and we’d
like to deliver these energies world wide.
4) What are you most
looking forward to doing in Atlanta (besides playing at the Velvet Underground,
of course!)
We
have some spare days to spend in the city, and besides performing in the Driven
Music Conference (Friday Nov 21st 11pm [doors open @ 7pm] at the Velvet
Underground) we really look forward to exploring the city, visiting local music
clubs and having a great time in our short time in the States, and until our next
visit, we invite you to keep posted and like us on Facebook.
