"Africa, Climate Change and Israel's Contribution"
The conference will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem on November 22
According to the UN Experts on Climate Change, IPCC, and other climate models, Africa is one of the most vulnerable continents to climate changes. These are already visible in all directions through increasing temperatures, decreasing precipitation and increase of extreme events such as floods and damage to agricultural output.
In addition to that, many African countries are becoming increasingly vulnerable to climate changes due to considerable reliance on rain-fed agriculture, rapid urbanization and desertification.
On the other hand, Israel has developed many technologies and capabilities that can be of particular relevance to African countries as they face the challenges of climate change, thus helping to address one of the major problems on the international agenda today. Israel looks forward to sharing with African countries it's expertise and experience in fields such as water, agriculture, renewable energy, smart cities, health, innovation, education, and more.
Speakers will include high levels officials of the united nations as well as global experts leaders on climate change.
The conference will introduce relevant stakeholders in Israel - from the business sector, the government sector, NGO's, as well as academia - with the challenges and prospects that Africa is facing. The conference will attempt to examine the measures that should be implemented in order to assist the continent combatting climate change and its ramifications.
The Conference will be held in English and Hebrew with simultaneous translation to English.
