American President Barack Obama's step-grandmother has undergone emergency eye surgery in an Israeli-run hospital in Equatorial Guinea. Speaking about the Shalom Hospital where was treated, she said, "all of Africa is talking about your hospital and of the fact that you don't need to fly to Europe to get medical treatment". The hospital is staffed by over 100 Israeli doctors and nurses providing top class medical care to some of the world's poorest people.
