The Israeli Embassy in Addis Ababa has launch a first of its kind youth leadership program in two schools is Addis Ababa: Andinet and Safari Academy.
The program, which included 6 in-class sessions and 6 online session due to covid19 circumstances, aimed to providing the students leadership tools that will be useful for them in order to become the future leaders of their communities. Each session addressed different aspects of leadership, as social awareness, empowerment, social activism and more.
The sessions were organized and conducted by Mrs. Noi Shaked, Mashav Coordinator at the Israeli Embassy. A well experienced educational and youth instructor with more than 10 years of professional experience in formal and informal education, and supervised by Deputy Ambassador Or Daniely.
The project concluded with a video, fully made and decided by the students, as demonstration of being community leaders and community-aware citizens. The video is dedicated to increasing awareness to covid19 pandemic and the need to follow the protective instructions in order to support the governmental and communal efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
Mrs. Noi Shaked, head of the program: “I was honored to run the Embassy’s youth leadership project. Throughout the year, I have gotten to know inspiring and motivated children with spark in their eyes and desire to act. The video demonstrates that the participants have assimilated the tools and skills practiced during the program. I believe that leadership skills are a necessary tool in today’s world, and that it is necessary for every youngster to become a responsible, considerate and involved citizen. I sincerely hope that the program will expand and be able to reach every boy and girl in Addis Ababa and Ethiopia”.
As the youth is an integral part of the community, we believe that the empowerment of the youth will reflect on the community and the promising future of Ethiopia.
