Israel stands with Ethiopia in fighting the wildfire in Simien Mountain National Park.
An Israeli team composed of 9 fire fighters from the Israeli Fire and Rescue Services and the Home Front Command of the Israeli Defense Force landed Sunday morning in Gondar. The team joined the local forces and started advising on various techniques in containing the fire.
The delegation has been sent to Ethiopia under the instruction of the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, following the request of PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed made in a phone conversation with PM Netanyahu on Friday.
After a briefing in Debark on the wildfires in Simien Mountain by the Amhara region authorities, the Israeli firefighters’ expert team went to assess the situation on the ground.
Two members of the team are Israelis of Ethiopian origin.
The Israeli Embassy is coordinating the operation with the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all relevant Ethiopian authorities. Whenever friends will be in need, Israel will always be there!
