Israel, Africa eye new academic collaboration

    A delegation of Ethiopian and Rwandan presidents of leading universities arrived in Israel for a 5 days visit, aimed to develop new academic collaborations with Israeli academic institutions. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Israel organized the visit along with the hosting universities.                                                                                                    
     
    The delegation visited International School of Agricultural Sciences at Hebrew University, Rehovot Campus, Ben-Gurion University - Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research (BIDR), Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research, French Associates Institute for Agriculture and Biotechnology of Drylands, Technion and the Broniza Entrepreneurship Center, Haifa University,   Bar Ilan University, Tel Aviv University and Galilee International Management Institute. The delegates also visited the Yad Vashem, Holocaust memorial site.  
     
    "I came back from Israel and my stay there was so great! I am sure my university will do every effort to make use of this visit. I am so happy for having this academic and cultural relationship" said Yalew Endawoke (Prof.), President of Woldia University on his return to Ethiopia.    
     
    Professor Abdinasir Ahmed, President of Jigjiga University expressed his admiration of the Israel's technological advancement and implementation in engineering and medical fields. He said the dry land agricultural technology is particularly expedient for regions like Jigjiga where there is shortage of water.
