​The day was observed with speeches by the Ambassador of the State of Israel, Mrs. Belaynesh Zevadia and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Joachim Schmidt. A lecture, “The Untold Stories: The beginning of the Final Solution” delivered by Dr. Lea Prais, Director of Projects at the Yad Vashem International School of Holocaust Studies (Jerusalem, Israel), recalled the tragedies of the Holocaust and warned the future of the dangers of prejudice and antisemiticism.

The event that took place at the UNECA compound  was attended by the diplomatic corps in Ethiopia, the jewish community, representatives of government and non goverment organisations and the media.
