Ethiopian PhD Students studying at Ben-Gurion University under the supervision of Prof. Zvi Bentwich
Jemal Ali, Mesfin Meshesha and Dereje Teshome from Ethiopia are currently studying at Ben-Gurion University of Negev, doing their PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Zvi Bentwich from the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics.
Prof. Bentwich strongly believes that scientific research in general and HIV and Bio-medical research in particular can make a big change in Africa, therefore it is extremely important to invest in young African researchers and develop the future African Scientific Leadership.
According to Jemal, Mesfin and Dereje, the academic and social life at Ben-Gurion University is very pleasant. They enjoy working at the high level laboratories of the university and are happy with their stay in Beer Sheba-Israel. They even managed to learn some Hebrew words and when you meet them at the university's corridors, classrooms, laboratories or sports-grounds they will easily greet in Hebrew. We wish them lots of luck!
