Ambassador Raphael Morav met with H.E. Jemal Beker Abedula, State Minister at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. During the meeting they discussed collaboration in technology transfer for productivity increase in agriculture.
Israel is committed to cooperate with Ethiopia in the introduction of advanced methods of irrigation and efficient water management. Such cooperation is already being implemented in partnership with Israeli NGOs in Ethiopia through the establishment of Centers of Excellence for irrigation, demonstration sites, donation of solar irrigation systems, training programs, micro credit for small holder farmers, etc.
Since Israel’s early days, the country’s agriculture sector has been forced to provide its citizenry with advanced solutions. Situated in one of the world’s most arid regions, it was Israel that pioneered and led the concepts of drip irrigation, recycling, purifying and reuse of wastewater for agriculture purposes.
Based on its accumulated experience, Israel is poised to play a major role in supplying the world with cutting-edge agriculture solutions.
