The United Nations identified Israel in 2014 as top contributor per capita in the fight against Ebola.
Addis Ababa (February, 2016) -- The African Union expressed its appreciation to the contribution and solidarity of Israel in the fight against Ebola. The Union presented a crystal plaque to Mrs. Belaynesh Zevadia, Ambassador of Israel to Ethiopia, Rwanda & Burundi, during the visit paid to the organization. The delegation was led by Mr.Ilan Fluss, Deputy Head of Mashav at MFA-Israel.
Ambassador Belaynesh was joined by Mr. Leo Vinovezky, Deputy Head of Mission and Mr. Serkalem Adgeh, Trade & Investment Promotion at Israel Embassy, during the discussion with Ambassador Febe Potgieter-Gqubule, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Bureau of the Chairperson, Dr. Djoudalbaye Benjamin, the Chief Operations officer of the ASEOWA mission and Mrs. Wynne Musabayana, Deputy Head of Communication and Information African Union Commission, which conversed on ranges of Israel's emergency response activities in Africa.
