    International Holocause Remembrance Day

Berkeley – Contemporary chamber group Ensemble for These Times—Nanette McGuinness, soprano, Dale Tsang, piano, and composer-in-residence David Garner, joined by cellist Anne Lerner-Wright—will perform a fascinating program on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, as part of the SF Friends of Chamber Music’s Presidio Sessions series in the relaxed atmosphere of the Presidio Officers Club. Featuring works by composers banned in the Holocaust—Erich Korngold, Hans Winterberg, Henriette Bosmans, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and brand new arrangements for E4TT from Franz Waxman’s The Song of Terezin for cello and piano—and by others who perished—Lajos Delej, Gyorgy Justus, Edwin Geist and Sandor Vandor, the concert will also include selections from E4TT’s award-winning debut CD, Surviving: Women’s Words (David Garner’s settings of poems by four Jewish women Holocaust survivors—submitted for consideration for the 59th Grammy Awards and reviewed as “highly compelling,” “passionate,” and “extremely well done”) and by E4TT 2016 Call-for-Scores composer, Israeli Naftali Schindler.
