Ambassador Menashe Bar-On presented his credentials to President Benigno S. Aquino III on the 25th of August 2011 as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to the Philippines.
He began his impressive track record in diplomatic mission in 1969 as he held various significant positions in the Embassies of Israel in Nicosia, Athens, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. Before heading the mission in the Philippines, he became the Consul General at the Embassy of Israel in London and Ambassador of Israel to Panama and was the Director-in-Charge of the project to reopen the Consulate General in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the headquarters of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he became the Head of Consular Affairs Bureau aside from holding other pertinent positions.
Born in 1947 and served in the Israel Defense Forces in 1966–1969, Ambassador Bar-On holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in the History of the Jewish People from Hebrew University, Jerusalem and a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from Middlesex University, London. He speaks Hebrew, English, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese.
He is married to Esther Bar-On, has 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
