Phase two of
the ''Multimedia Centers'' project
It is proven
that cooperation between Israel and Cameroon in the field of education and
access to high technologies has a good track record. Several Hi Tech centers
have been created; five editions of the Hi Tech seminar already organized;
several secondary school computer centers upgraded; the financing of a
video-conference center at the University of Ngaoundéré; delivery of computer
equipment to the School of Audiovisual Journalism in Obala ; just to name a
few.
This shows that education and access to new technologies in particular
constitute one of the major axes of the action of the Israeli Embassy in
Cameroon. Moreover, ''quality education'' is listed as the fourth Sustainable
Development Goal (SDG) of the United Nations. To achieve this goal, a
favorable and adapted environment is essential. Infrastructures that meet the
needs of learners have to be constructed. Hence the rationale for the project
to create Computer Centers in several campuses of the African Institute of
Computer Science (IAI) in Cameroon.
The first
phase of the project came to fruition with the opening of the first Multimedia
Center on the IAI campus of Yaoundé in September 2022. As part of the second
phase of the project, the Chargé d'affaires of the embassy HE Anan ZEN traveled
to the west Region to hand over the computers to IAI. He was warmly welcomed by
the administrative authorities including the Secretary General of the
Governor's Services, traditional authorities such as the King of Bafoussam people
His Majesty Njitack Ngompe Pelé, and the Sultan King of the Bamouns people His
Majesty Nabil Mbombo Njoya .
In his speech for the occasion, the Chargé
d'Affaires HE Anan ZEN, reiterated the will of the State of Israel to work
tirelessly for universal access to technological innovations. He also made it
clear in his speech that he "felt western" (" my heart is in the
west ") he said. The traditional authorities of the west region seized the
opportunity of the visit of the illustrious diplomat, to make him discover
magnificent works of art traditions and cultures of the Bamileke people.
The Israeli
Embassy in Cameroon thanks the IAI-Cameroon, privileged partner of this project,
which is intended to be sustainable, and is part of the continuity of Israel's
vision in Cameroon to further contribute to strengthening bilateral relations
between the two States, bilateral relations that are doing very well.
