On 7th June 2012, the Government of Cameroon officially received a High Tech Centre for the training of engineers in industrial robotic automation built and installed by Israeli company INTELTEK.
Located at the National Advanced School for Engineering of the University of Yaoundé 1, the centre is made up of 12 laboratories, over 100 robots and 160 computers.
Speaking at the ceremony that was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, the Israeli Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E. Miki ARBEL and the Rector of the University of Yaoundé 1, Mr. Urs Sila, Director Sila Educational Initiatives said that the Centre was the fruit of many years of preparation between the Israeli and Cameroonian parties. He added that the centre had the potential to train engineers to be competitive in the World market.
The Minister of Higher Education welcomed the addition of the facility to the institution and said that the centre will be open to use not only by students of the National Advanced School for Engineering but also by students of all State and Private Institutions of Higher Education in Cameroon and the Central African Sub-region.
Ambassador Miki ARBEL said that the acquisition of the facility meant that Cameroon was resolutely making giant strides towards acquiring its own TECHNION (Israeli engineering institute) and that Israel was proud to be part of that journey. He insisted that such knowledge sharing that had resulted in the conception and construction of the centre was the essence of diplomatic relations between Cameroon and Israel.
