Israel was amongst many friends of Cameroon that took part in the celebration of the International day of the Woman on 8th March 2016 at the 20th May Boulevard in the capital city, Yaounde.

Celebrated in Cameroon under the theme: Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: Meeting the Challenges, Overcoming the Obstacles, the occasion was presided by a representative of the First Lady, Prof. Marie Therese Abena Ondoa, Minister of Women's Empowerment and the Family. It brought together over 100,000 men and women from all walks life. Delegations included professional groups, government agencies, civil society associations, International organisations and diplomatic missions.

Since its inception, Cameroon has made significant strides in the promotion of women's rights, education and access to leadership positions.

Israel, through its Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV), has partnered Cameroon resolutely in this effort by providing capacity building opportunities to Cameroonian women in the areas of Health, Education, Science, Agriculture, gender issues, leadership etc. This partnership is one of many areas of cooperation that constitute the friendly relations between Cameroon. By personally leading the Israeli mission through the parade, H.E. Nadav COHEN, Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon demonstrated both country's common commitment to the promotion of gender equality in particular and Israel-Cameroon relations in general.
