Inauguration ceremony of the first Computer Center donated
by the embassy of Israel to the African Institute of Computer Science (AII)
As part of its ''Computer Centers'' project initiated by HE
Anan ZEN Deputy Head of Mission, the Israeli Embassy proceeded Wednesday,
September 7 to the inauguration of the first multimedia center offered to the
African Institute of Informatics (IAI). The project as a whole aims to open
nine other centers in the other regions of Cameroon for a total of ten Centers
at the rate of one Center per region.
The ceremony, organized with the assistance of the IAI, was
attended by administrative authorities such as the Mayor of Mfou Council, the
representative of the Divisional Officer of the Méfou-et-Afamba Division, the
representative of the sub-divisional Officer, the IAI management team, and
learners.
After welcoming the delegation from the Embassy of Israel,
the DCM and the resident representative of IAI, Mr. Armand-Claude ABANDA, made
their speeches for the occasion. Then, they proceeded to the symbolic opening
of the multimedia room fully equipped by the Israeli Embassy. Speaking before
the assembly, the resident representative of the affirmed his gratitude for
this cooperation, which once again testifies to the good health of bilateral
relations between Israel and Cameroon. The IAI has 32 sites throughout the
Cameroonian national territory and the Institute offers several training
courses targeting the different social groups: women, young people and
children; and the action of the embassy will certainly strengthen the projects
implemented by IAI. Mr. Anan ZEN, meanwhile, recalled that it was not an
isolated act but an action that is part of the continuity of Israel's vision in
Cameroon. As a brief reminder, in 2012, the Embassy, in partnership with the
Ministry of Higher Education, inaugurated the Hi Tech Center at the Polytechnic
School of Yaoundé. In 2017, the training offer of the Hi Tech Center was
completed with the establishment of a 3D Printing Center making it the most
advanced of its kind in the sub-African region. The same year, the Israeli
embassy financed the upgrading of the computer centers of two high schools:
CETIC of Ngoa-Ékélé and that of Lycée of Etoug-ébé; just to name a few.
The ceremony ended with a guided tour of the IAI Institute,
followed by a refreshing cocktail.
The presence of the media was effective through five
television channels (CRTV the national TV channel; Equinoxe Tv (very popular TV
channel based in Douala the economic capital); DBS TV; CANAL 24 TV; I24News
(Israeli international TV channel ); and CAMEROON TRIBUNE the national daily.
The embassy of Israel is proud of this long lasting
cooperation with Cameroon aim at making accessible computer education to all
cameroonians.
Stay tunes for the opening of the next centres.
