Japanese PM Shinzo Abe arrived in Israel

    Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived (18/1) in Israel at the head of a delegation of over 100 government officials and presidents of leading global Japanese companies in order to expand bilateral economic cooperation.

     
    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed PM Abe at the beginning of their meeting:
     
    I’m delighted to welcome you, Prime Minister. I think this is a reciprocal visit to the one I made in Japan. It gives us an historic opportunity to bring together the great capabilities of the people of Japan and the people of Israel. I think there are many economic areas, technological areas and other areas in which we can cooperate, and I look forward to doing that for the benefit of both our peoples.”
     
    At a subsequent meeting with 26 Japanese businesspeople and company heads, PM Abe mentioned that he sees steady progress in development the bilateral relations, and that the economy is the one area which has the greatest potential for advancement of the bilateral relations.
     
    Both Prime Ministers then visited a special exhibition of innovative Israeli technologies. The Israeli companies that showed their products to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are: Phinergy, Real View, ReWalk, ConsumerPhysics, ElMindA.
    Last July, for the first time, an R&D cooperation agreement was signed with Japan.

    During the visit, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Ministry Of Science and Technology in Israel (MOST) signed an agreement to expand scientific cooperation.
