Finance Minister Kahalon visited Sugihara’s grave

    ​​During his visit to Japan, Minister of Finance Moshe Kahlon, made a visit to the grave of Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese diplomat who saved thousands of Jewish lives during the Second World War by issuing ‘Visas for Life’. 

    Mr. Sugihara was awarded the Righteous Among the Nations honorific from the State of Israel for risking his life to save Jews. 

    Minister Kahlon paid floral tribute to Mr. Sugihara, accompanied by Mayor of Kamakura Mr. Takashi Matsuo, City Assembly Chairman Mr. Katsuyuki Nakazawa and Vice Chairman Ms. Kunie Kusaka, Ambassador of Israel Ruth Kahanoff and the youngest son of Chiune Sugihara, Mr. Nobuki Sugihara. 

    Minister Kahalon, who was the first Israeli cabinet member to visit the grave, saluted him with the Jewish proverb: "He who saves a single life, saves the entire world."
