    ​Israeli ambassador to Singapore, HE Ms Yael Rubinstein held a charmingly intimate Passover dinner earlier this month at her residence. To bring the Jewish tradition closer to her Singaporean peers, she invited 24 distinguished guests comprising high-ranking government officials and prominent Singaporean businessmen to give them a peek into the observances of Passover. 

    Pesach, known as Passover in English, is a major Jewish spring festival, commemorating the Exodus from Egypt over 3,000 years ago. The seder is the centrepiece of any Passover experience. It is always observed on the first night of Passover, and in some homes on the second night as well. On both nights, the seder concludes with a dinner as Jews gather with family and friends to celebrate. They use a book called the Haggadah to lead the service. "Hagaddah" means "the telling," in Hebrew, and it contains instructions for the seder, blessings and the Passover story. The word "seder" literally means "order" in Hebrew. The name comes from the fact that there are 15 parts of the ritual service, all revolving around the upcoming Passover dinner. Food is an important symbolic element of Passover. And the traditional seder meal is a symbolic event that is the core ritual of the celebration.​
